Some fun facts about me:

- I have a weird obsession with roller coasters.
- I can clap with one hand.
- I cut the crust off my sandwiches.

Born and raised in Indiana, I spent most of my youth living in Middlebury. It's a small town of a few thousand people, about a three-hour drive east from Chicago. I was a competitive swimmer for ten years, spending four of those years on the high school swim team and winning the conference championship all four years.

In college, I spent three years writing and editing for the student newspaper, The Communicator and earned a spot as an Online Pacemaker Award finalist in web design from the Associated Collegiate Press. I ran my own tech and gadget blog for a couple years, earning around 20,000 monthly views—not much, but I was ecstatic.

After graduating in 2012, I spent around eight years writing thousands of articles for various online technology publications, including LifehackerSlashGearDigital Trends, GottaBeMobile, How-To Geek, and Review Geek. I’ve written news, reviews, and op-eds, but spent most of my writing career in the service journalism field, teaching people how their devices and software works through how-tos, tutorials, and explainers.

In 2019, I moved to California to work at iFixit, starting off as a content writer and eventually transitioning to technical writing. I took over managing the tech writing team in 2020, and then became Content Operations Manager a year later, overseeing the day-to-day efforts of the editorial, video, and technical writing teams.

I spent about two years from 2022 to 2024 working at Guild as a content writer on the Knowledge Management team, writing documentation and creating other support content for our external-facing teams.

I love getting my hands dirty with DIY projects around the house and in the garage, and I get a bit antsy if I go a few days without picking up a tool. I enjoy riding motorcycles, hiking, and sightseeing, but I also enjoy spending just as much time indoors, hanging out with my wonderful wife, Kim, and our two cats, Opal and Olive.
